Week 3 Meals Have Arrived
I received the meals today. Everything was in order and nicely frozen. The only downfall was I didn't recieve two of my meals. The Breakfast Pizza and the Chicken Pesto Salad. I was really looking forward to trying the pizza because I read a great review for it. I was disappointed that it didn't come and instead I was sent waffles, would've rather had pancakes or a muffin. But the silver lining for the lunch substitution is that they sent me the grilled cheese with the brownie!! So I was happy.
D - Cioppino Seafood Medley, Petite Grain Roll, Cream Cheese & Chives, Chocolate Puddingc
I had this again for dinner. It was delicious!
L - Mirkin Burger, Kaiser Roll, American Cheese, Salsa Cup, Melon Mix

The Mirkin Burger is made with bread, carrots, sunflower seeds, beans, and a few other things. It's so good I could sub it for a burger anytime.
I knew I would love this because I had it once before. For it to be a vegetarian burger it is delicious. I didn't use the salsa on it I just love it plain, well plain with the cheese, yummy! The melon mix was good. And the bean salad was fine. I will definitely get this meal each time.B - Waffles with Syrup (Substitution)
This meal was fine. Not that feeling but I did like the fruit mixed in with the syrup. My waffle fell apart in the toaster so I couldn't get it as crispy as I like. Overall I would probably stick to the pancakes or muffins.

D - Mexican Style Burrito, Spanish Rice, Side of Refried Beans, Fajita Veggies, Salsa Cup
This was delicious. I felt like I was at a Mexican restaurant. This fajita was on point. I'm a smorgasbord, buffet type of girl. I love to have options. I don't need a lot of everything but I like to taste a lot of different things.
You can't really ask for more options if you like buffets! And on top of that it tasted great. It was a little on the spicy side, which I like. And if you like fajitas you probably don't mind a bit of heat. The fajita meat was seasoned so perfectly. I thought it may be bland but I didn't even need all the sides piled on to enjoy it. I could eat it by itself. I will have to get this twice the next time it comes around.

L - Blue Crab Ravioli Soup, Jello
This was another good meal. The ravioli wasn't my taste though. It was just kind of bland. The veggies in the soup were like the mix you had as a kid. Carrots peas and corn, you remember right? I warmed the two big ravioli separate because they didn't get thoroughly warmed with the soup.
The jello was surprisingly tasty! It had vanilla pudding at the bottom and it turned out smooth as silk (I thought it would be lumpy) The jello had blueberries in it as well. Fun dessert and I may re-order just to have it again.

B - Cinnamon Raisin Bagel, Cream Cheese (Substitution)
This was good. It's not filling though so I won't use this as a substitution again. But if you like bagels for breakfast you won't be disappointed. There was more then enough cream cheese for the bagel also. I hate not having enough of a condiment when I eat something!

Sunday Weigh-In
Man oh man, I'm gaining my weight back! I gained 1.5lbs since my last weigh in. I guess all this ice cream and candy on the weekends just isn't going to cut it. I also had candy at the movies during the week. And two fattening meals on lunch dates. I have to be more strict with myself. It's ok to splurge a little but in my heart I knew I was over doing it. I'm happy that I am still lower then my beginning weight. Before I started DTG I was gaining every week. So I can only imagine what the scale would say if I had not started! I start with my personal trainer next week so that should make a huge difference. Well I will trudge forward.


L - Meatloaf on a Wheat Sub Roll w/ BBQ Sauce, Creamy Veggie Salad, Strawberries
I was excited to have this meal because it came with strawberries! The meal was not everything I thought it would be. I liked the meatloaf, it was really really filling. I didn't get any BBQ sauce but it didn't need it.
The veggie salad wasn't bad but I'm not into veggies so much. The strawberries were in a lot of liquid and that is not the way I prefer them. Also it looked like there was some mold on two of them. There was something greenish white and that totally turned me off. I'll stick to my fresh strawberries and I won't get this meal again. Or if I do I'll add my own strawberries. Since I did like the meatloaf.

L - New Mediterranean Pasta Salad with Tuna
So I ended up having this dish on Saturday. I had a few of my own meals during the week so I am eating the leftovers this weekend.
I didn't like this meal. I think it's because I don't like olives. I don't hate them but the entire pasta dish was flavored with them. If they were just an added ingredient it would've been ok, but the flavor overpowered the entire dish. If you like olives and tuna you will love this dish. It was good other then that. But since I don't like olives I won't be ordering this one again.

D - Turkey Chili, Pasta Salad Primavera, Savory Corn Bread Muffin
I ended up eating this again today. Just as tasty as the first time, LOVE this dish!
"Week 2" Food Arrived
Everything was perfect! I don't know why I get so excited about the food coming and checking it out and planning my meals. Guess that's just me. But everything was included. And I always like seeing what extras I get for the 1600 cal as well. This week I got angel food cake (among other things), yum!
I just called DTG to make my substitutions for next week. I decided to make my substitutions for the following week as well since next week is Thanksgiving and I might forget to call. I didn't realize until last week that I could make substitutions for ANY week, not just the coming week, DUH! But I took advantage of that today and of course the customer service rep was awesome. So nice! And there was no hold or anything. Gotta love it!

The 1600 cal also includes cream cheese and apple sauce. I was surprised that apple sauce was added to this breakfast. But it already comes with a yogurt in the normal plan so I guess something had to be added for the 1600 cal version. And I love the addition of the cream cheese as well. This was another moist muffin to add to my list of loves.

D - Lobster and Veggie Ravioli over Veggies, Cardinal Sauce, Steamed Vegetable Mix
Great meal. There were about 3 large ravioli and a bunch of "cardinal sauce" which had a lot of veggies in it. I ate all the ravioli and left the veggies, lol.
The inside of the ravioli had some white filling in one and some black filling in another.
L - My Own
Had lunch today with a friend, Mexican, and went to see "For Colored Girls." Great movie! I didn't even cry, very proud of myself for that.
B - Oat & Raisin Scone, Orange Marmalade, Orange Juice
The 1600 cal also includes yogurt and cream cheese. What can I say but another wonderful scone. I liked the addition of the cream cheese this week. It was a nice treat since I don't like orange marmalade. The yogurt was tasty as well.
I love having the muffins and scones on a diet!

D - Italian Meatball on Fettucini, Pomodoro Sauce, Veggie Blend
This meal was great. It was sooo much food. I couldn't even eat it all. I warmed it for 2 minutes and then cut the two giant meatballs up and warmed it for 2 more minutes. They were so big that I couldn't get them warmed all the way through without cutting them up.
L - Turkey Ham Salad, Pretzel Roll, Lentil Chili
This is another meal I had while on DTG last year. Very tasty, looking forward to having it again.
1600 cal also comes with string cheese.
This meal was very delicious and filling. I didn't even have space for the string cheese but I have begun saving some of those extras to have as snacks in case I get hungry before lunch or dinner. The ham salad was already inside the bread and wrapped up. I did not warm the sandwich but I did warm the chili. They were both great prepared that way.

Back on track now. I had my breakfast at my normal time this morning and it was great. As I stated last time I had this meal I eat it like pigs in a blanket and that makes it perfect for me.

D - My Own
I didn't really have dinner. Since I had a huge lunch I wasn't really hungry and again, this freaking tooth. Let me tell you something, I am afraid of the dentist, there I said it. I had a really bad dentist growing up and everything I had done there hurt like heck. I have not been able to get over my fear although I have gone to many wonderful pain free dentist since then.
I have a really big filling in the tooth that is bothering me. I had some trouble with it earlier this year and my hygienist told me it was just sensitive and I needed to use Sensodyne toothpaste. I was really excited to hear this because I thought she was going to say I needed a root canal. But now I am having a different pain in this tooth and I am praying it is still for the same reason. So I'm not really looking forward to eating at all even though the pain has subsided a bit. Ok, well on to the next one...

I went to CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) for lunch with a friend. I had pepperoni pizza. I originally planned on having a salad but with my tooth I was scared to have anything crunchy. And so I fell back on my old habits of eating pizza there. I also ate half of my friends chocolate cake and ice cream dessert *cringe*
B - Skipped
I woke up late this morning and I was having lunch with a friend so I didn't end up eating anything. I didn't really want to eat with my tooth bothering me anyway so it worked out.

D - My Own
I take a class on monday nights and my husband decided instead of having me cook him dinner we could grab something. And since I don't like cooking I always jump at the opportunity. So we had burgers and fries from Five Guys, it was really good. Since I do the 5 day plan I'll have my dinner one day this weekend. Love that option! However, as I was biting down on a piece of bacon from the burger I hurt my tooth. And now I'm scared to chew on my right side. Guess I should've stuck with my DTG meal :-(
L - Curry Chicken Salad, Mandarin Oranges, Melba Toast
I had this meal for the second time this week and it is sooooo delicious. I will double up on this meal the next time week 1 comes around for sure.
B - Blueberry Pancakes, Maple Syrup, Turkey Sausage
This breakfast was good as always. I don't love the blueberry jelly but it isn't bad. This breakfast was delicious especially with the sausage. I started eating them like pigs in a blanket and that made them perfect! I warmed the syrup for about 10 seconds just to knock the chill off and warmed the meal for the suggested 2 minutes. Very happy I'll get to have this 3 days this week. It's like going to the pancake house but without the calories. The 1600 cal comes with an extra half of a pancake.

Sunday Weigh-In
So I have lost another pound! That actually makes 2.5lbs for 1 1/2 weeks. But since I changed my weigh-in to Sunday I will just go with one pound. Very excited considering I have not worked out at all and I have eaten terribly on the weekends. The weeks before I started DTG I was consistently gaining weight so I know it must be working. Looking forward the coming weeks!


2nd Weekend
So on the weekends I eat what I want basically. Just in case someone is wondering I figured I'd keep track of the things I ate on the weekends as well. I went to the pancake house for breakfast and pigged out. I had chocolate candy and popcorn at the movies. I ate a salad with full fat dressing, cheese and croutons and I ate dinner with my husband, take out. Ultimately I want to lay off the candy but I haven't so far. I am also starting up with a trainer next month so I may change my weekend habits then as well. Who knows?

D - Turkey Chili, Pasta Salad Primavera, Savory Corn Bread Muffin
I've had this meal before so I knew I was in for a treat and any meal with one of DTG's muffins will automatically win me over. Don't know how they can freeze and thaw bread and still have it taste so fresh and moist. I loved this meal. I made my husband tacos for dinner and didn't even want one. My meal was so delicious. The pasta salad was great and so was the chili. The 1600 cal came with a little container of cheese also which made me happy.
L - Chicken Alfredo Melt, Roasted Veggie Salad, Apple
I was going to sub this item but I read rave reviews about it from other bloggers so I just had to try it for myself.
I'm so glad I did. It was delicious. I realized after I ordered it that I tried this item last time I did DTG. I'm happy I didn't realize it because I would've missed out. The bread is so soft and the chicken so moist. And of course I love my cheese. I saved the apple for a snack. I didn't care for the salad. I ate a tiny bit of it, it taste like its pickled or something similar. If you like veggies you might like it. I'll be getting this meal again.

B - Mango-Cranberry Muffin, Orange Marmalade, Yogurt Smoothie
Another delicious muffin! This one had a lot of cranberries in it and I love dried cranberries so it was great. The smoothie was strawberry flavored, one of my favorites so I couldn't go wrong with this meal. I didn't feel as full after this breakfast. Oh and I didn't eat the orange marmalade because I don't like it. The muffin doesn't need it anyway.
On a personal note: I woke up early this morning so I ended up eating breakfast early again. Guess my body is still thrown off from yesterday. But now that means I will eat my lunch early again as well. Luckily lunch today comes with an apple so I will have that as a snack between lunch and dinner. I don't like to change my dinner time because the evening is when I am the worst at sticking with a diet. So I don't want to let myself get hungry before I go to sleep. I already eat 3 hours before bedtime anyway so lets not get crazy.

D - Chicken Pizza, Broccoli Florets, Angel Food Cake, Strawberry Cream Sauce
Couldn't wait to get my hands on the angel food cake and strawberry sauce. I didn't care too much for the pizza last time but the dessert makes it worthwhile!
Wow this was so good. The pizza was even better this time around. And.. I ate most of the broccoli, just not the stems, very proud of myself for that! The meal was so feeling, the 1600 cal also included a roll. By the time I finished this meal I was so satisfied that I didn't even eat my cake immediately. That is huge for me because that means I was really satisfied, not just full. I am just loving this plan. Next time I will leave the cake and sauce in the fridge because the sauce is better when its cold. I left it out because I planned on eating it right away but of course that didn't happen. It was still delicious when I had it though, will be getting this meal again for sure.

Adding To My Journey...
The reason my morning was thrown off was because my cousin asked me to go and meet with a trainer with her. She is getting married next year and I am her matron of honor. We went to a bridal expo and one of the booths was for personal training. We both have been wanting to lose weight forever so we thought this might be a good idea but we didn't know if we could afford it. After thinking it over we both decided to give it a shot. So I was up extra early for the meeting, it went great and we will be starting a 3 month program right after Thanksgiving (The trainers decision, not ours, lol) I am so excited about this, as I stated before, I am not going backwards anymore, I am ready for a change and this is one more step in the right direction. I will be sure to include updates on how it goes.
L - Curry Chicken Salad, Mandarin Oranges, Melba Toast
"um um good", this was just as good if not better then I remember it. The curry salad has golden raisins and apples in it. The flavor is so good, I'm so happy I doubled up on this. Not sure why I love the curry salad but didn't like the curry shrimp dish at all. Another great thing was that the "melba toast" was actually wheat crackers this time. I don't like melba toast, it is so tasteless so I wasn't going to eat it but then I saw that they were wheat crackers and they went great with the meal. Love to have a little crunch. The mandarins were great too. Tasted very fresh. The 1600 cal also comes with a granola bar. I ate that a few hours after lunch.
As I stated my morning was thrown off so I ate breakfast later then planned. Which of course caused me to be starving and therefore decided to eat my lunch early. So I decided to save the granola bar for a snack since I was sure I would be hungry before dinner. It was a great snack. It was Kashi so I knew it would be very healthy. Not just full of sugar like most brands. It had 6g of protein and 3g of fiber, not bad for 150 calories. It was very nutty as well.
B - Fruit & Granola Parfait, Muffin (Substitution)
I ordered this the last time I tried DTG and it looked really weird to me so I didn't eat it. But it sounds really good and I love granola so I wanted to give it another shot. And it comes with a muffin so there were no losers in this situation. Well, I opened the container and it looked a little funky to me...
but I decided to stir it and voila!
It was a nice smooth sweet treat. I will definitely order this again. It has chunks of fruit (lots of oranges and strawberries) in it as well as granola and I really liked it. It's a large portion also which is always good on a diet (when it's something you like). And the muffin was of course wonderful.
My morning was totally thrown off so I had to eat the yogurt on the run and then a few hours later I had the muffin along with the cranberry cocktail that was meant for my noodle kugel that they were out of. I still received the sides for that dish, just not the dish itself. So it was nice to have the juice with my muffin so it wasn't so lonely.
I chose this meal instead of the Ratatouille Omelet and Asparagus Spears. I don't like asparagus or ratatouille so I'm pretty sure that meal would not have worked for me. The Parfait is one of the items that is offered this week but is not included in the 5-day cycle. I love the DTG lets you sub these items with no hassles!
